Understanding and Explaining Labour’s Antisemitism Crisis

Since 2015 the Labour Party has been at the centre of significant public controversy about the nature and significance of antisemitism in its ranks. This is unprecedented: antisemitism sits at the centre of British political debate as never before. The subject is controversial and poorly understood. This project examines, for the first time, the range of conflicting qualitative and quantitative datasets relating to Labour and antisemitism, as well as a select number of case study-focused reports on the issue.

Project team: David Feldman, Director, Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism; Ben Gidley, Research Associate, Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism and Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychosocial Studies, Birkbeck; Brendan McGeever, Research Associate, Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism and Lecturer in the Sociology of Racialization and Antisemitism, Department of Psychosocial Studies, Birkbeck.
